Overview

Theatre Troupe CIO seeks an Artist Therapist to co lead its East London Youth Troupe from January-December 2026. This unique hybrid role blends creative arts and psychotherapy to support vulnerable young people (ages 7-12) through visual arts, theatre, and craft activities. The Artist Therapist will design and deliver engaging workshops, offer emotional support in sessions, and provide therapeutic supervision to staff and volunteers. This is an opportunity to use both artistic practice and clinical expertise to help children build confidence, creativity and resilience in a nurturing, trauma informed environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co lead the East London Youth Troupe as joint artistic and therapeutic leader.
  • Design and deliver creative workshops for children aged 7-12.
  • Offer one to one and group emotional support in therapeutic sessions.
  • Provide therapeutic supervision for staff and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with theatre practitioners to integrate therapeutic techniques into performances.
Key Qualifications & Experience
  • UKCP, BACP, or HCPC qualified in psychotherapy or counselling.
  • Active artistic or visual arts practice.
  • Experience facilitating arts workshops with children or young people.
  • Strong understanding of trauma informed and attachment based practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and empathetic communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with theatre practitioners and volunteers.
  • Crisis management and safeguarding awareness.

  • Duration: January-December 2026.
  • Fee: £5,000 total (£416 per month, 4.5 hrs/week).
