ABOUT MAMATWAN

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country's Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our open-cut Mamatwan mine which started operating more than half a century ago.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As a plant Electrician, you will be responsible for routine maintenance, timely installation and where required, repair of equipment to ensure that plant related activities are executed in a safe manner, and that electrical reliability as per the requirements set forth by the supervisor, are met. You will also be required to operate electrical equipment and test all working parts in functional area to ensure proper utilization.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Interprets and coordinates pre-work with regards to repairs, planned and predictive maintenance;
  • Accesses any area safely to perform necessary electrical maintenance on equipment;
  • Performs daily safety inspections of equipment and assesses risks on equipment;
  • Maintains a clean and safe worksite and accounts for the overall electrical reliability of the assigned section;
  • Work independently and in a team as well as under pressure;
  • Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment;
  • Coordinates activities associated with trouble-shooting and repairing maintenance equipment;
ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in electrical maintenance
  • Maintenance and fault finding on Allen Bradley VSD's will be advantageous.
  • Medium voltage switchgear competence will be advantageous.Plant experience (substations, MCCs, transformers, motors, liquid starters, safety circuits and switchgear (VCB/ SF6 will be advantageous.
  • MHSA knowledge/ experience will be advantageous
