Job Description

Our client, an accounting firm, provides a wide range of accounting services to help businesses maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance, and make informed financial decisions.

As an Accounting Intern, you will support the accounting team in compiling financial statements, performing basic tax calculations, and assisting with reviews. Your work will contribute to accurate reporting, compliance, and advisory services that drive client success.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in compiling financial statements for different entities.
  • Perform basic tax calculations and support submissions.
  • Maintain accurate financial and accounting records.
  • Assist in independent reviews of financial statements.
  • Support the accounting team in a variety of client services and advisory tasks.

Qualifications
  • Matric with strong results in Mathematics and Accounting.
  • Completed Certificate/Diploma in Accounting (or currently studying).
  • Enrolled in or working towards a BAcc / Bcom or equivalent degree.
Experience
  • 1 year of bookkeeping experience in an accounting practice (preferred, not required).
Software Proficiency
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage - training provided).
  • Financial statement software (Draftworx - training provided).
  • Document management systems (Dext, Hubdoc, etc.).
  • SARS eFiling (training provided).
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure.
  • Professional communication in Afrikaans & English (read, write, speak).
  • Good problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Tech-savvy and eager to learn.
  • Ability to work well in a team and with clients.
Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Continuous learning and professional development are essential.
  • Supervisory responsibilities may be introduced in year 2 or 3 of the internship.
