Introduction

MANCOSA, a DHET registered and CHE accredited private higher education distance education provider, offering undergraduate and postgraduate business qualifications, has the following vacancies available: Academic Assessment Manager - Postgraduate ProgrammesTo provide leadership on assessment governance, coordination of assessment development activities and ensure that the quality, integrity and authenticity of assessments is maintained at all times across the institution and across platforms, distance and LMS supported delivery.

Overall responsibility for assessments development of Postgraduate programmes (Masters, Honours and Postgraduate diplomas):

The Postgraduate Academic Assessment Manager ensures:

  • Assessments are coherently designed, taking into account the level descriptors of the NQF as an integral part of the learning process to ensure internal alignment and coherence of a programme in terms of the purpose and learning content of the programme and its modules, learning outcomes, assessment criteria, and assessment opportunities and strategies.
  • Assessment processes are reliable, valid, transparent and fair, and the tasks feasible (practicable).
  • Assessment includes a wide range of approaches, methods (including integrated assessment, where applicable) and across platforms (including online), that are fit for purpose.
  • Assessment practices are based on established good practice and contemporary research, and are aligned with the assessment practices and procedures required or suggested by the relevant statutory bodies.
  • Quality assurance is integral to assessment across platforms and is the responsibility of the academic departments.
The Postgraduate Academic Assessment Manager will:
  • Establish a clear conceptual framework which includes regulations, guidelines and procedures for an integrated, coherent and constructive assessments that effectively supports the achievement of intended learning outcomes;
  • Ensure the alignment of assessment practices for academic programmes in accordance with the national higher education legislative and policy environment;
  • Ensure that assessment is an integrated process within the student learning experience; and
  • Provide a framework for the management of the quality of all assessment-related procedures and practices at MANCOSA Ownership of academic assessment processes; assignment, examination development and moderation.
  • Ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and security of assessments
QUALIFICATION (S)
  • Masters Qualification (required)
  • Doctoral Qualification (preferred / advantage)
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 3 years' experience in similar or related field.
RELATED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
  • Enthusiastic and flexible team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High level of self-motivation, initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and personal computer application experience, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office and database applications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of what an examination process entails and its importance thereof.
