Job PurposeThe lecturer will primarily be responsible for lecturing Economics or Real Estate related studies. Moreover, the lecturer will be required to support the academic initiatives of the department such as programme development, curriculum updates, supervision, research, as well as represent the department on different institutional forums.
Job Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceMinimum requirements for Lecturer:
- Master's degree in Economics or Real Estate or related studies or MBA/MBL.
- An underpinning qualification (with majors in Economics or Real Estate or Business studies up to and including third year level). The underpinning bachelor's degree must be from a South African university.
- At least two years' full-time lecturing experience in real estate/economics subjects in a Higher Education environment.
Recommended:
- Studying towards a PhD at a recognized South African university in business, economics or real estate related studies.
- Experience using Blackboard (or any other similar LMS system) as a tool to teach and assess students.
- Knowledge and experience in curriculum design.
- Work related experience in real estate or property management & finance or business-related work experience.
- Delivery of Economics or Real Estate related subjects across departments in the Faculty.
- Development of curriculum for Economics or Real Estate related subjects.
- Management of Economics or Real Estate related subject tutor programme.
- Administration of marks for various courses.
- Attendance at various committees.
- Adherence to relevant policies.
- Keeping abreast with developments in Blackboard.
- Publication of articles.
- Supervision of post-graduate students.
- Development of learning and teaching material.
- Development of online Blackboard assessments.
- Ability to keep up-to-date with new developments in technology.
- Commitment to updating course material and presenting course material in a professional manner.
- Proficient and creative use of Blackboard to assess students.
- Adaptable to constantly changing and sometimes challenging environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Life-long learner with interest in research and innovation relevant to Economics or Real Estate related studies.
- Creativity in developing Blackboard assessments.
